The 2023 APP Newport Beach Open was held June 28–July 3 at The Tennis & Pickleball Club at Newport Beach. The tournament featured singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competition for both amateur and professional players. Pickleball Union reported it was the largest in tournament history, with over 1,400 pro and amateur players having participated. Parris Todd won her second “triple crown.” Her wins came in women’s pro singles, women’s pro doubles and mixed doubles. Todd defeated Megan Fudge in the women’s pro singles final, 11-2, 8-11, 11-5. Hunter Johnson won men’s pro singles over Quang Duong, 12-10, 11-4. In mixed pro doubles, Andre Mick and Allison Harris took game one 11-6 before Todd and Johnson won 11-6, 11-5. Todd and Simone Jardim beat Genie Erokhina and Rianna Valdes in women’s pro doubles, 13-11, 11-5. Andrei Daescu and Pesa Teoni won men’s pro doubles against Richard Livornese Jr. and Spencer Lanier, 11-4, 11-5.
