Pesa Teoni is a professional pickleball player who competes on the PPA Tour in men's singles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles. Born in American Samoa, he moved to St. George, Utah at the age of 15, and "could not speak any English upon arrival in the U.S., leading to a very steep learning curve." Before pickleball, he came from a background in competitive soccer, volleyball, and rugby, with no prior racquet-sports experience. He started playing pickleball in 2016 in St. George while living with an aunt, introduced to the sport by an uncle, and turned to professional competition following the COVID-19 pandemic. He plays with a Proton Series Three paddle.
