Freddie Powell is a British pickleball player who was born in Indianapolis and brought up in Poole, Dorset, and who holds dual British-American citizenship. Before pickleball he played tennis, competing as a GB top-20 ranked junior whose ranking earned him a US college scholarship; after sustaining a stress fracture in his arm he took up pickleball while working at a sports bar in the United States, and he returned to the UK in May 2022. He has worked at London's Roehampton Club as a tennis and pickleball coach. At the 2023 English Nationals, Powell won the men's doubles title alongside Louis Laville, beating James Chaudry and Pep Giuliano in the final. Known for an entertainer's approach on court, he openly describes himself as a showman.
