Mehvish Safdar is a Pakistani-American professional pickleball player born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from Pakistan to work as medical doctors. She grew up playing competitive tennis and, according to the PPA Tour, was a DI college tennis player on a full athletic scholarship at the University of Minnesota. Safdar began playing pickleball in 2022 and fully committed to the sport in the summer of 2024. As a Ph.D. student at Indiana University, she competed in collegiate pickleball, and the PPA Tour describes her as the first collegiate pickleball player to be drafted to an MLP premier-level team. She competes on the PPA Tour in women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, and is a Ph.D. student studying sport psychology.
