Yana Newell, who competes under the name Yana Grechkina, is a professional pickleball player from Vladimir, Russia who resides in Kansas City, Missouri. She came to the sport from tennis, a game she had played since the age of five, and was a standout at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she was named Freshman of the Year and helped lead her team to back-to-back conference championships. Her love for pickleball developed in 2020, and she went on to compete on the PPA Tour and in Major League Pickleball. Off the court, she works as an accountant for the PPA Tour, and she is married to fellow player Ben Newell.
