Yates Johnson is an American professional pickleball player who resides in New Braunfels, Texas, and competes on the PPA Tour in men's singles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles. He grew up in the ski town of Taos, New Mexico, alongside his identical twin brother, Hunter, with whom he immersed himself in a variety of sports. Johnson earned a scholarship to play Division 1 tennis at SMU in Dallas, where he also obtained his degree, and the brothers reached a career-high doubles ranking of 15 in the country before competing as a doubles duo on the ATP tour for four years. According to pickleball.com, their move to professional pickleball marked them as the first active pro tennis players to make such a transition. He turned pro in 2022.
