Yuta Funemizu is a Japanese professional pickleball player who competes on the PPA Tour. He came to pickleball from soft tennis, a sport in which the PPA Tour describes him as having earned the title of World Champion at the Soft Tennis World Championships. In January 2024 he halted his soft tennis career and moved permanently to the United States to take up pickleball, and he went on to make history as the first Japanese player to sign an exclusive contract with the United Pickleball Association to compete on the Carvana PPA Tour and in Major League Pickleball. He plays primarily on the right side in men's doubles, where he carries over the distinctive swing of his soft tennis background.
